![]() Rear-seat passengers get 967 mm (38.1 inches) of headroom, down by just 19 mm (0.7 inch) from the old Trax. The 2024 Chevrolet Trax has 1,006 mm (39.6 inches) of front-seat headroom, the same as the last-generation 2022 Trax. Moving up the trim levels, additional features include automatic climate control, cargo cover, eight-inch driver information screen, 11-inch centre touchscreen, keyless start, and eight-way power driver’s seat. The 1RS adds heated mirrors, heated steering wheel, red interior accents, and rear floor mats. The LS includes manual climate control, keyed ignition, six-way manual driver’s seat, heated front seats, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are five trim levels of LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS and Activ. On our first-drive of the 2024 Chevrolet Trax, we found that “the interior is simple in layout, yet driver-centric and contemporary in style.” The climate controls “are thankfully not incorporated into the touchscreen, but are rather readily-accessible knobs and buttons below it.” The 2024 Chevrolet Trax is too new for reliability ratings, but Consumer Reports expects it to have “about average reliability when compared to other new cars, based on Chevrolet’s brand history and the previous generation of the Trax.” 2024 Chevrolet Trax Interior All trims have six airbags, rear seat reminder, and Teen Driver controls. ![]() The LT trim and up also include adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Standard driver-assist features on all trims include emergency front braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlamps, and high-definition rearview camera. The 2024 Chevrolet Trax hasn’t yet been rated by the U.S. In contrast, the 2022 Trax with 1.4L engine was rated at 8.6 L/100 km in combined driving. NRCan estimates an annual fuel cost of $2,291. It uses regular-grade, 87-octane gasoline. Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) rates the 2024 Chevrolet Trax at 8.3 L/100 km in the city 7.4 on the highway and 7.9 in combined driving. It's also a far better driver than before it “feels refined and solid on the road, soaking bumps without harshness and remaining level through turns – it might be Chevy’s least-expensive vehicle, but it certainly doesn’t feel cheap.” Standard noise-cancelling on all trims gives it a quiet ride. In our first-drive review, we found that it “certainly doesn’t feel down on power.” The previous-generation Trax had a turbocharged 1.4L four-cylinder that made 155 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque, but go by how it feels rather than just the numbers. The 2024 Chevrolet Trax’s sole engine choice is a turbocharged 1.2L three-cylinder engine that makes 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque, and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Cargo capacity is also larger by as much as 12 per cent when the rear seats are down. The interior is also much improved, with available 11-inch centre touchscreen and new connectivity features. The new styling makes it look like a scaled-down Chevrolet Blazer, and it “ looks sleek and sporty, rather than utilitarian and bland.” The roof is lower, adding to that appealing crossover look, but front headroom stays the same. Like some other of its small-ute rivals, it comes only in front-wheel drive (FWD) those who insist on all-wheel drive (AWD) can move up to the Trailblazer. With the discontinuation of the Spark hatchback, it’s now the entry model in Chevrolet’s lineup. ![]() It’s an all-new model that basically shares only its name with the previous generation, and it’s so much better that it might deserve a new nameplate. What’s new for the Chevrolet Trax for 2024? In its segment, it competes against such models as the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, Mazda CX-30 and Toyota Corolla Cross, as well as the equally-new Buick Envista, which shares its basic platform with the Trax. It seats five and offers a single gasoline engine. It’s larger than before and now grows into a compact SUV it used to be smaller than the Trailblazer but is now longer than that model, although not as tall. The Chevrolet Trax was temporarily discontinued for 2023, and returns as an all-new model for 2024.
